Is ddeploy really free?
Scanning is free forever: every screen, every size, the explorer, System Data, Ask AI. You see exactly what would go and how much you'd get back before paying anything. Cleaning needs Pro, $9.99 one time. There's no card or signup for the free parts.
Does it work offline?
Completely. Scanning and cleaning happen 100% on your Mac, nothing is uploaded, ever. There's no account and no telemetry. Three things touch the network, all optional: the once-a-day update check (a plain request that carries only the app and macOS version; switch it off in Settings and the app is fully offline), license activation if you buy Pro, and the Ask AI button, which opens your own browser.
Is ddeploy safe to use?
Yes, it's the whole design. ddeploy only deletes the contents of well-known cache locations, moves your own files (backups, installers, large files, leftovers) to the Trash where they're recoverable, keeps a protected list it never touches, and shows a confirmation listing what happens before cleaning anything. Unsure about an item? Right-click it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about that exact file.
How do I install the beta?
Open the DMG, drag ddeploy to Applications, and launch it. macOS will say it "could not verify" the app, the beta isn't notarized yet. Click Done (not Move to Trash), then System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → Open Anyway. You do this once. Terminal users can instead run xattr -cr /Applications/ddeploy.com.
What's free, what's paid?
Scanning is free forever, every screen, every size, the drill-down explorer, the System Data breakdown, the memory view, and Ask AI. ddeploy Pro ($9.99, one time) unlocks the actions: Clean, Purge, Quit Apps, and the per-model manager. One key activates one Mac. Getting a new Mac? Deactivate in Settings and activate there.
Is it a subscription?
No. One purchase, yours for life. No account either, your license key arrives by email and activates in Settings.
Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?
macOS protects some folders (iOS backups, Messages data, parts of Library). Granting Full Disk Access in System Settings lets ddeploy measure and clean them. Without it, the app still works, those boxes just read smaller than reality.
What actually happens after I clean caches?
They rebuild on demand: Docker re-pulls images when you use them, Xcode re-derives build data on the next build, npm and pip re-download what a project needs. You trade disk space now for a slightly slower first build later. Model libraries are different, a 40 GB Ollama model is a real re-download, which is why models are never preselected and can be deleted one at a time instead.
Does ddeploy collect any data?
No telemetry, no analytics, no account, no ads. The only network calls are license activation (if you buy Pro) and the Ask AI button, which opens your own browser with your own AI account.
